Florian Mueller from Foss Patents said that Apple has already done the first steps in injunction against Samsung device Nexus for violating Apple’s patents on the past Thursday by applying to the United States District Court for the Northern District of California. The public version of the filing was available on Friday the last week.

The motion is concerning four Apple patents according to Mueller: “data tapping” patent, Siri and unified search, slide-to-unlock mechanism, touch-screen entry of text.

The Siri search assistant could become the biggest threat to Google’s search system as Mueller says. He also added that the Siri patent may also cover the Google’s mobile search app. As for “data tapping” feature, Apple has already obtained a ban on HTC’s products that use Android operating system including the tap feature.

Another Galaxy Nexus feature slide-to-unlock is presently undergo the legal actions by Apple in Germany and is expected to be resolved in March. A month earlier German court refused the request initiated by Apple to ban the Galaxy Nexus sales due to its resemblance to Apple’s iPhone product. In that case Apple “focuses on strong technical patents” according to Mueller.

For issuing Galaxy Nexus in October of the previous year, Google and Samsung were collaborating closely. Samsung stated that Nexus was Apple-proofed. Google released the line of Nexus phones in order to showcase the latest user interface and features available within the latest version of Android including the OS extensions.

Mueller said:

This means that Google cannot deny its undivided responsibility for any infringement findings.”

He adds:

The Galaxy Nexus’ role as a ‘lead device could also contribute to the willingness of the court to order a preliminary injunction.”

Beforehand CEO of Apple Steve Jobs considered Android a knock-off of Apple’s iOS operating system. Since that moment the competition between the two companies has been growing.

Mueller said:

Apple was going to destroy Android, because it’s a stolen product. I’m willing to go thermonuclear war on this.”
