Rosie is a modest hen from the town of Maidenhead in Berkshire county, England. The young feathered lady has a strange gift to lay eggs that accurately predict the weather. When there will be bright days without clouds on the horizon the feathered meteorologist lays a pure white egg with orange spots. But when there will be snow, Rosie leaves behind an egg with white dots, like snowflakes. However when there will be two consecutive sunny days, the hen “produces” an egg with stripes like sun rays.

Rosie predicts the weather better than BBC
Sasha Anderson, 30-year-old, learned about the remarkable abilities of Rosie last August. Back then hen didn’t stop laying eggs with solar color patterns on them, which predicted the warmest days of the year. However in cold days the patterns on the eggs changed a lot. Sasha’s three children race every day to see if Rosie will guess what the weather will be. “We no longer follow the forecast on television” – says Ms. Anderson with a smile – we know it by the eggs we gather from the chicken coop!”

The Anderson family bought Rosie last June as a gift for the children. The author Charlotte Popescu, who is an expert on birds, when heard about Rosie’s gift said: “Usually the color pattern of the egg depends on the breed. I had never heard of a feathered meteorologist. But since octopuses can predict football matches, then why chickens can not foresee what the weather will be like! “
