Women are usually the focus of all the attention when it comes to the Awards season ( Golden Globe 2012 this time), as people prefer observing women’s outfits and looks on the red carpet rather than males’. Of course, men’s going out is not preceded by the months spent in spas, hours spent on feet in the process of finding the perfectly matching dress and accessories, the tens of dress fittings, putting a lot of makeup on face and having your hair braided in sophisticated shape. But some men still have something to show and manage to stand out from the pile of black tuxedos and bow ties with approximately the same shape and design.
Small details, which are not seen at first sight like texture of fabrics, right hairstyle and fine perfectly matching accessories can easily transform the dull black menswear into stylish and interesting look. But while ones do the style hits, others show the style misses. Once being overloaded with details or chosen the wrong shape, even an elegant piece of clothes like tuxedo can look awful and ruin the total look. Mark Wahlberg- miss
Even Giorgio Armani tuxedo can look bad on a man what was proved by Mark Wahlberg’s look. The deep jacket and loose pants do not contribute to male’s figure elongation. So, if you cannot boast about your height, you would better avoid such silhouette of tuxedo and go for a slimmer one.
Ryan Gosling- hit
Want a million dollar look? Ryan Gosling reached one by wearing Salvatore Ferragamo one-button tuxedo with shawl-collar.
Bradley Cooper- hit
The sexiest man of 2011 one more time reaffirms this high title and looks amazing in the black tuxedo with a bow tie and polished shoes with a quadratic front. Cut and style of the tuxedo fit ideally his slim body, and the design perfectly outlines the length of his legs and all the grace of his stately figure.
Justin Bieber- miss
Even though Justin Bieber positions himself as a teenage singer and dresses correspondingly his image on the scene, once he decided to go for a chic look by wearing a classy black-tie outfit, he should have found the one of a proper size and perfect fit. Bieber also seems to have problems with finding the matching shoes. Even though he might be the youngest out of all men on the awards, looking like a boy is not the right choice when attending the serious event.
Robert Downey Jr.- hit
As we said above it is hard to stand out in the crowd of men wearing the same black tuxedos. Robert Downey Jr. went the easiest way and wore a gray Prada suit and a red tie. Even though this look is more suitable for a cocktail party, he still looks amazing.
Johny Depp- miss
Despite the fact that Johny Depp wore the convenient black tuxedo, something is wrong with his total look. Maybe a split with his long-time wife Vanessa Paradi is influencing his style in a bad way? The Ralph Lauren Black Label looks bad on him: law waste line of the jacket and baggy pants make him look shorter than he is.
Zac Efron- hit
Dispense without complications perfectly demonstrates that well-fitting classy suit coupled with a black tie can do more than a luxurious tuxedo overloaded with extra details. Which designer comes first to our mind when thinking about edgy black suit? Of course Calvin Klein.
Ricky Gervais- miss
There is such an impression that men without sunglasses are not allowed to enter the Golden Globe 2012 award. Just like Brad Pitt, a TV host Ricky Gervais decided to cover the upper half of his face with big sunglasses but unlike Pitt’s these ones look a little dirty while glaring on the sun. Even the perfectly fitting wine red tuxedo made from glancing taffeta matched with weird shoes with a little platform didn’t save the whole look.
Mark Salling- miss
Don’t try to look skinnier than you are by wearing a tuxedo of a smaller size like Mark Salling did- it doesn’t work. Better put on a tuxedo of a proper size with a slim silhouette. Besides having the jacket button pretty tensed, the more outrageous thing is his hairstyle. Everybody faded on Salling’s haircut’s background in a bad way. I don’t think this haircut is a good choice for a red carpet show up. By the way, Salling didn’t skirt the Golden Globe 2012 “sunglasses tendency”.
