Myths are everywhere and men face stereotypes every day as well as women. I often hear heart-broken women saying that all men are well, bad, to put it gently, and her friends are nodding in agreement. Generalizations are pertinent to humans but most times stereotypes only do harm. Let’s debunk some myths about men.
#1 Men Are Not Emotional
Have you ever seen a male teen making a scene because of some trifle? Well, child or teen males are always taught to be more restrained when it comes to emotions. In childhood men always hear: “Don’t cry, you’re not a girl.” So with such upbringing, which is supposed to prepare males to their future social roles no wonder why men don’t gladly share their feelings with wives or God forbid their friends. It just seems not too manly.
Some men want to be seen in one and only role – aggressive male, but people are too different for that. Often men are not too happy to be that, feeling that there is more to them than just testosterone.
#2 Men Are Money-Making Machines
Some may wish it was true but men aren’t money-making machines. Some men don’t want to make tons of money at all. Yeah you may say those are silly romantics who don’t know life but money won’t buy you another life. While you are sitting in that stuffy office many amazing things pass you by. So women can expect men to have fortunes behind their backs but times have changed many men are now competing with women for jobs and promotions and success is simply overrated.
#3 Men Do Not Tolerate Criticism
There are men who do not take critical remarks as something to think about they perceive it as an attack on their authority, masculinity and pride. But the criticism should be presented right. Some women tend to nag their men after a long work day about petty things or just because. If you feel the need to talk about something you husband does wrong give him some space when he’s tired. Do not criticize him constantly, any person eventually gets tired of all the nagging and pointless criticism. Criticize only when it’s important but do not get carried away.
#4 Men Are Apathetic
There is such a notion that men only know how to make money and lie on the couch. It pisses off some women and others simply accept it. But neither of these reactions will get you anywhere unless you start doing something. Do not lower expectation for your man just because he works so much and doesn’t have the time or energy to do anything else than lie on the couch. But also do not attack him for not wanting to go walking with you after a 9 or 12-hour work day. Instead sit down with him and discuss how to distribute the time between work, rest and quality time.
#5 Men Only Want Sex
Sure why not? Women want sex too, you know. But that’s not the main thing. It’s not the point of ALL things men do. Men have feelings too and many men I know want a family or long and loving relationship with one woman. One. It’s true. This myth leads to yet another one that men do not want to commit. Well, if you treat your man as a money-making machine with no feelings then no wonder he doesn’t want to marry you. Geez!
#6 Men Don’t Like to Talk
Another myth created by women who chose their partners God knows how. For truly deep long-lasting and interesting relationship you choose a person who’s close to you. You share same interests, you are having similar life priorities and you talk to each other about stuff. When you are looking into the same life direction you will always have something to talk about.
#7 Men Are Helpless in Family Life
I often hear women complain about their men being helpless in looking after children or doing chores. I’ve also seen how women can be patronizing in those things saying: “You’re doing it wrong.” Well, here you can do two things: either teach him how to do it right or let him do it his own way without constantly criticizing him.
#8 Men Hate Grooming
Real men are considered to be smelly and dirty. But many men are now concerned about their looks, hygiene and fashion trends. Modern men know that smelling nice and wearing neat stylish clothes attracts women and generally impresses people making men feel better about themselves.
#9 All Men Are Cruel
While violence is more pertinent to males you can’t deny that women can be cruel too, some can be even crueler. Besides not every male is violent and cruel, most of men are law-abiding and calm creatures. Men are more destructive by nature yes, but women are supposed to be teaching and inspiring men to be more creative and constructive.
#10 Men Can’t Be Discriminated by Sex
Oh yes, they can. All of the above is the proof itself that men can too be discriminated because they are men. Men are called heartless discriminating pigs while women take the children away in case of divorce, women are allowed to cut lines and because women are ‘more emotional’ they usually get more sympathy from anybody. How is this not discriminating? So ladies, before labeling and calling men names think about all the social injustices men are going through without all the supportive organizations and campaigns fighting for men’s rights.

Written by a woman yes, and one who understands little of men. You just don’t get it. Unlike women, men can’t be summed up like that. Some men really do only want sex, I can attest to that, not that I am constantly seeking it I just recognize I place little value on a relationship with a woman. Men are not emotional by nature, chemicaly women produce more hormones that cause them to cry more often, not to mention PMS. Men are testosterone driven, this is where we find ourselves fitting within our hierarchies. This allows some men to be more creative, and others to be more authoritative, and others still who willingly submit and work towards a common goal.
Testosterone makes us more passionate about things of interest to us, and drives us to compete with eachother to find the greatest among us, this sharpens us in a way women simply will never benefit from as meaningfuly.Bah, probably the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard “but women are supposed to be teaching and inspiring men to be more creative and constructive.” What the hell planet are you even from? Not nearly as many men as you think place such a value on women, and to the ones that do I take great pleasure in ripping their crutches out from under them.

Well im a 24 year old man and i can say that all of the ten things on this list are trully a mith.”Men are not emotional?” please, its obviously a mith, im a man and i am emotional, i might not have cried like my female friends at the end of titanic(or a sad situation) but trust me i cried. Men are money making machines? Not true at all, there are many of us that think that family and/ or girlfriend(wife) is way more important than earning a little more money. Men do not tolerate criticism? False, i do tolerate criticism like millions of other men. Men are apathetic? Not true, there may be a lot of men that only lay in the couch all their free time but im definetly not one of those. There are days that im too tired to go out, then i cook some delicious dinner for my girlfriend and have a romantic dinner. ”Men only want sex?” NOT true AT ALL, women do have the same sexual needs and some accept it, but there are others who keep it for themselfs. I love sex, but its obviously not the only thing i think of. Men dont like to talk? LIES LIES, i enjoy talking to friends, my love, family and im A GOOD listener too. Men are helpless in family life? False, i might not be as good as my girlfriend when it comes to folding clothes or cleaning the house, but i do take my time and make sure everything is well cleaned; besides, i think this one is more about teamwork. will this is true but technical if you look at all the ganders men are treted batter in society than women, yes men need to compit agenst women in the work place but men steel have a bigger chens than the women not in all jobs but in most, all so thers steel same places that will pay men more than women even if the do the same jobe, im fore homo (witch means “=” i fogat how to right the word) in all ganders but that will never happen.
