Kanye West: the Upcoming Grammy 2012 Minion

Kanye West: the Upcoming Grammy 2012 Minion

The 54th Grammy Awards is to be held on February, 12 and broadcast on CBS. Last night, during the Grammy Nomination Concert Live the names of nominees of the most blue-chip award among musicians have been announced. Just like the last year, a hip-hop artist is leading the list of Grammy 2012 nominees: this year Kanye West walked away with a leading seven (!) nods, following the hip-hop record made by last year’s leading nominee, Eminem. He’s nominated for his Watch the Throne joint album with Jay-Z and also gained a few nominations as Song of the Year for his extremely combined track All of the Lights, which involved Rihanna, Fergie and Kid Cudi. Moreover, Kanye is even nominated against himself, with Watch the Throne and his own My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy for Rap Album of the Year nods.

Next record-holder are Adele, the Foo Fighters and Bruno Mars who got six nods each. Lil Wayne and dance-music breakthrough Skrillex each collected five nods. What’s notable is that this year’s nominees are remarkably young, with 34-year-old West as the eldest nominee, and Adele (23), Rihanna (23), Lady Gaga (25) and Bruno Mars (26).

All in all Kanye West is a very hard-working guy, his success in business is incredible. Since August 2008 West has opened several Fatburger restaurants in the Chicago area. His company, KW Foods LLC, bought the rights to the work in Chicago. Additionally, West planned to launch his fashion career, and applied for internships with major European fashion houses: he launched Past Tell collection in 2009. He also worked with Nike to release his own shoe, Air Yeezys. On January 22, 2009, during Paris Fashion Week, West introduced his first shoe line designed for Louis Vuitton. The line was released in summer 2009. On October 01, 2011, Kanye West premiered his women’s fashion label, DW Kanye West at Paris Fashion Week. He received support from DSquared2 duo Dean and Dan Caten, Olivier Theyskens, Jeremy Scott, Azzedine Alaïa, and the Olsen twins, who were also in attendance during his show. His debut received mixed-to-negative reviews, ranging from reserved observations by Style.com to excoriating commentary by The Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, the International Herald Tribune, Elleuk.com, The Daily Telegraph, Harper’s Bazaar and many others. Still, Kanye West does not seem to give up and is going ahead in music, fashion, food industries.
